There might not have been an elephant in the room last Sunday afternoon but it didn't stop club members boosting our fundraising effort for St. Giles Hospice.
There was a cash prize of £100 up for grabs, pledged by members of the club's senior section, and attendees at the junior section's presentation day bought raffle tickets for the chance to win. The winner was a gentleman named Colin who was present when Clubman of the Year Alex Smail drew the winning ticket.
The total raised on the day was £400 which now takes our overall sum for the hospice to £1,200. A massive thank you to all those who pledged money and bought tickets.
Elwood, the club's elephant, will take part in the hospice's March of the Elephants project along with about another 60 elephant sculptures beginning next Monday, 1st July. He can be found in the St. Giles Hospice shop in Wade Street, Lichfield opposite the Garrick Theatre. He will be there for 10 weeks so if you're passing, call in and say hello to him. After the 10 weeks he will return to his home at The CCE Sportsway.
Once again, many thanks to all who participated. If anyone just wishes to make a donation for the hospice, please let me know.
