Burntwood score 22 points in each half to win 44-13 away to Willenhall.

For a change it was the back division who contributed all the points.
The hosts had achieved a bonus point in all of their previous games this season and looked to be on course to continue that run by taking an eight point lead in eight minutes but Josh Canning’s side responded with three tries in each half to halt the run.
Willenhall kicked a penalty after two minutes and added to it with an unconverted try when they broke down the blind side of a scrum on the Burntwood ten metre line to send a second row forward over in the corner.
The tide turned in Burntwood’s favour four minutes later. Aidan Barker fielded a kick superbly in his own half and set off on a diagonal run into opposition territory. His inside pass was batted down by a defender which cost the offender ten minutes in the sin bin. The ensuing penalty award was kicked to the left corner and after the forwards had their turn to force their way over the line, possession was moved wide for Barker to cross in the right corner.
Great play by the forwards at the restart, inter-passing their way over halfway, released Brett Taylor for a clean run to the posts for a try which he comfortably converted.
The hosts hit back with a fine try of their own from scrum possession near the halfway line. A slick backs’ move and a final pop pass earned them a try in the right corner which went unconverted for a13-12 lead.
Taylor regained the lead for his side with a penalty goal on 26 minutes and then shortly afterwards made a clean break from a scrum on halfway to feed Connor Brighton who sent Barker away for a cracking try which Taylor converted impressively from the touchline.
Burntwood’s defence was tested in the time left until the break. They managed to hold the home pack up close to their line despite losing Hal Gozukucuk to a yellow card but Dan Clements won a vital turnover to preserve his side’s 22-13 lead at the turnaround.
Kian Carter’s 50-22 kick five minutes into the second period saw the forwards win the line out and earn a penalty in midfield which Taylor kicked to extend the lead.
Gozukucuk returned to the field and was instrumental in the build up to the bonus point try. He charged downfield from a line out and kicked ahead for Brighton to chase and touch down for an opportunistic try. Taylor added another fine conversion for 32-13.
Carter counter attacked on 53 minutes and fed Taylor who made good ground before feeding Brighton. His chip ahead was chased by Taylor for the try and conversion to give him a personal tally of 24 points in the match.
Wuillenhall went close to reducing their deficit on the hour mark via their forwards from close range but first they were held up and then another turnover by Clements allowed Carter to clear.
The hosts’ chances of a comeback were effectively ended when they received two yellow cards spanning five minutes approaching the last ten minutes. Despite their reduced numbers, they broke into the visitor’s 22 and hacked through but this led to Burntwood’s final score of the game and what a score it was.
The loose ball was collected and moved to Ben Finney who raced round one opponent and chipped over another in an electrifying run down the left wing. He was able to touch the ball down deep in the in goal area for a superb individual try to complete the scoring.
Burntwood 2nds found table-topping St Leonards too strong for them at the RCI Sportsway and lost out 38-6. The home points came from two Alfie Broadhurst penalty goals.
The 3rd team went without action due to the lack of a referee to officiate.
This Saturday sees the 1st team host Veseyans who have moved up to 3rd in the table, a place behind Burntwood, whilst the 2nds travel to play Linley. The 3rds are without a fixture.
